Sponsor an Orphan

Atif’s Story
‘My name is Atif Irshad. We are five brothers and sisters. My father died of cancer when I was just 10. It was his wish for us to have the best education. My uncle has five children of his own, and is only a poor street seller. He gave me and my siblings a household, but this is beyond his means. When my father died my desire to be educated was being crushed. My dreams of becoming a doctor had been destroyed. Just as we were losing hope we were admitted into a READ Foundation School. Now I am happy as I can fulfil my father’s wishes for us.’

Atif is just one of many thousands of children with a similar story. READ foundation supports over 6500 orphans, but the needs are considerably more. Please help by sponsoring a child’s education. Make a difference.

Many families are in desperate need of income and are forced to send their children out to work rather than going to school, consequently both the child and the family remain in poverty as their is no investment in education. A positive step towards eliminating this circle of lost opportunity is by sponsoring a child for as little a £10 per month. This small amount makes the world of difference and ensures an investment in the life of a needy orphan.

Sponsor a needy child

Many of our schools also cater for exceptionally poor children who, although not orphans, may even be in a worse state than some orphans. These ‘poorest of the poor’ children are very neglected by sponsors. There needs are great. Please help us, for the same amount of £10 per month, you can support one of the most vulnerable children in our schools. Please do this though our ‘Child Sponsorship Scheme’

Educating Daughters Programme

Educating Daughters Programme Picture The concept of real and sustainable socio-economic development cannot be realised without the active participation of women in every sphere of life. The existing facilities for female education in most of the developing world, are insufficient or non-existent, especially, in the rural areas.

Of those that get access to initial education a large number drop out at secondary level due to the non-availability of convenient schooling facilities. READ Foundation is carrying out an extensive educational programme to equip the girls from rural and underprovided areas with quality education and a set of skills that help them throughout their life. During the first phase of this plan, READ Foundation has incorporated four boarding schools up to the secondary level in four districts of Azad Jammu & Kashmir. Hailing from poor family backgrounds, these girls would not enjoy such a quality education if it was not for your support. Please sponsor one of our High School Female Students (HSFS) at £480 per annum (£40 per month) which includes extras such as boarding, lodgings and fees.
